The panoramic vista from the vaulted, hexagonal great room looks out over a wide railed deck that spans the entire rear of this contemporary home plan. Its kitchen has two peninsular counters, one with a raised eating bar. The vaulted owners’ suite is well isolated from secondary bedrooms and their shared bathroom.

A rhapsody of shapes and textures makes this estate-size contemporary chalet home plan a treat for the eye, inside and out. A kitchen, dining area and living room fill the hexagonal great room at its core. Two bedroom suites extend off to the right and left, and more sleeping areas, along with a huge recreation room and a spacious shop, fill the daylight basement below.

Light spills into the vaulted entry of this classic European cottage home plan through sidelights and a transom. The vaulted family room flows into the nook, where it’s open to the kitchen across a long, multi-angled eating bar. Up front, a gas fireplace graces the vaulted living room. Upstairs, a railed balcony overlooks the family room and links bedrooms.

Wooden railings and posts rim the wide porch that fronts this handsome vacation cabin home plan. Natural light washes into a vaulted great room that’s open to a dining room and a kitchen with a work island and eating bar. Light spills into the counter/cabinet-lined mud hall that links the utility room with the expansive three-car garage.

Ingraham 42-016

This design was constructed by Rick Dupuy of Oak Hill Construction and won “Best Overall Home” in the 2006 Maryville-Alcoa Parade of Homes. The homeowner supplied us with these wonderful photographs of the construction and the finished home. As you will see in the photos, the views from this house are breathtaking.

Modifications to this Georgian style design include: making the master bath larger and changed the layout, added 2 feet to the width through the formal dining room and kitchen, changed the kitchen layout, added a wetbar, coffered the ceiling in the great room, and changed the screened porch to a full season sunroom.

This is a great example of starting with a pre-designed home plan and modifying the plan to create the home of your dreams.

Inside this transitional home, the floor plan is comfortably contemporary. A rambling array of interconnected gathering spaces fills two-thirds of the ground floor, while a well-appointed owners’ suite claims most of the remainder. Two bedrooms, a bathroom and a bonus room are upstairs.
