We are happy to announce that Rick McAlexander, President of Associated Designs is now a Certified Green Building Professional!

The certification is provided from the National Association of Home Builders that developed the green building guidelines in 2005. The NAHB states, “Green homes incorporate environmental considerations and resource efficiency into every step of the building and development process to minimize environmental impact. The design, construction, and operation of a home must focus on energy and water efficiency, resource efficient building design and materials, indoor environmental quality, and must take the home’s overall impact on the environment into account. However, many of the processes and technologies that go into a green home happen behind the scenes and behind the walls.”

“I want to make sure we stay on top of current design trends, and have the knowledge to provide clients with green living options when designing their new home,” says Rick. The next step for Rick is to become one of the first verifier of green building practices in the state of Oregon. He’ll complete the necessary requirements in June! For more information on green building, or to see how your home scores go to www.nahbgreen.org.
